HI IT IS ME SPARKY THE LITTLE DOG. YOU NEVER MEETED ME BEFORE. I WILL TELL TO YOU ABOUT ME. I AM A RAT TERRIER 5 YEARS OLD BLACK AND WHITE WITH PERKY UP EARS AND A CURLY TAIL AND 3 LEGS. I WEIGH 7 LBS. MOMMY SAYS I USED TO HAVE 4 LEGS BEFORE BUT I DONT THINK SO. I DONT REMEMBER. I LIVE IN A PARTMENT WITH MY MOMMY AND MY TOYS. I SLEEP ON THE BED AND ON THE GREEN CHAIR. MOMMY GIVES TO ME TREATS WHEN I SIT PRETTY AND STAND UP AND BEG. I AM CUTE AND CUTE. YOU WOULD LIKE TO MEET ME. MAYBE YOU COULD COME TO SEE ME TO BE MY FRIEND. I LIKE PEOPLES.

Hi. I’m Sparky’s mom, Becky. I’ll tell you the story I don’t want Sparky to know. He was terrorized and abused by his previous owner, who threw Sparky against a wall and shattered his left front leg, which had to be amputated. He came to me just after the surgery, a frightened and confused little dog, weighing only half of what he should. Four years later, he has gained weight, settled down considerably, isn’t afraid anymore, and, as he puts it, he really likes peoples. I hope you enjoy reading about his adventures. well sparky, you are one lucky guy to find a great mom like becky!!! don’t even try to think back about ‘then’, just keep living in the ‘now’. we are excited that you joined our family here, and are very anxious for pictures – pictures, pictures and more pictures…. glad you are doing so well, give your mom a big kiss for rescuing you!!!

My goodness. As we say around here, mean people suck. And it seems like Sparky met some mean people. I wish I could say he is the only dog here who lost a leg through cruelty, but that would be a lie. It is always gratifying to see these dogs find some real love in the world. Thank you for being that person for Sparky.
Dakota did not lose a leg through cruelty, but he was abused and abandoned as a pup and also had a long road to travel before he could act like a happy dog. I understand that part.
Sparky and Becky, welcome and please let us read all about the adventures of a rat terrier tripawd. There is some kind of unwritten rule here that says you have to post a bazillion pictures or we will all cry. So…please don’t make us cry!
