BROTHER

DEAR PEOPLES

HI IT IS ME SPARKY LITTLE WRITER DOG

I WILL TELL TO YOU A SAD STORY AND YOU WILL CRY A LITTLE BIT.  BEFORE I HAVED A BROTHER DOG.  HE LIVED HERE ALREADY WHEN I CAME.  HE WAS CALLED LUKE THE DOG AND HE WAS GOLDEN.  HE WAS OLD MAYBE 10 OR 12 AND QUIET.  I WAS YOUNG MAYBE ONE YEARS OLD AND I WAS TALKATIVE.    WE GOED WALKING AND MOMMY EVERY DAY.  WE DRINKED WATER IN THE SAME DISH AND THE SAME FOOD.  HE LIKED TREATS AND BONES LIKE ME.  HE LIKED TENNIS BALLS.  I DO NOT LIKE TENNIS BALLS.  THEY CAN NOT FIT IN MY MOUTH.  WE SLEEPED TOGETHER ON THE FLOOR AND ON THE BED.  WE WERE GOOD FRIENDS.  THEN LUKE SMELLED FUNNY.  HE DID NOT LIKE TO GO WALKING VERY MUCH.  HE SLEEPED MORE.  THEN HE GOED TO THE DOCTOR.  HE COMED HOME AND MOMMY CRIED.  LUKIE HAD THINGS IN HIS TUMMY TO MAKE HIM SICK.  IT WAS HARD FOR HIM TO BREATHE.  LUKIE HAD CANCER AND HEART FAILURE.  HE TAKED MEDICINE THAT SMELLED BAD.  HE SLEEPED MORE ON THE FLOOR.  HE COULD NOT GET ON THE BED ANY MORE.  THEN ONE DAY GRANDMA AND GRANDPA COMED TO VISIT.  THEY CRIED A LITTLE BIT.

THEN MOMMY TAKED LUKIE AWAY TO NEVER COMING BACK.  I DID NOT KNOW WHERE HE WAS.  I MISSED HIM.  MOMMY DID NOT TELL ME LUKIE DIED.  SHE JUST CRIED AND CRIED.  SHE HUGGED ME LOTS.

I MISS MY LUKIE BROTHER DOG.

LOVE FROM SPARKY THE BABY BROTHER DOG

  1. Oh, Sparky, that is a very sad story. I’m sorry you lost your brother. He is your special angel now, watching over you and your momma. I’m glad your momma has you there to help make her smile.

  2. So very sorry for your loss! I’m sure your were a wonderful little brother for Luke. Mom and Dad did a brave thing to let Luke go away from his pain. May the happy memories fill the hole in your heart.

  3. Sparky, I am sorry about your brother. I miss my brother too. He died of old age ailments around a year and a half ago. He was a German Shepherd dog and he was around 14 years old. My family took him for a car ride and he never came back home. The day he left he kept falling and couldn’t get up without a lot of help. He had lost a bunch of weight and didn’t have much of an appetite. I still miss him very much. He would sing to us in the most beautiful howl a person would ever want to hear. My family still cries because they miss him too.
Being a Golden myself, if you need a brother, I am available also. My 2 brothers and 1 sister (all 4 paws) don’t mind sharing.
Hang in there Sparky, your brother will always be with you in your heart.

  4. sparky, it’s sad that your brother passed on, but you are blessed with so many wonderful memories of him. hold on to the memories, and love your momma every day – love never ends.

  5. Dear Sparky,

I have lost two sisters, Belle and Zoot. I did know they were sick and I did know when they died. My Woman let me see them and smell them so I knew they were not really in those bodies anymore. It was sad but because I got to see them, I did not spend a lot of time wondering where they went. Maybe that helped; maybe not. And we got Evelyn after Belle died but while Zoot was still here, so I’ve never been alone like you are.

Belle was always the glue that held the pack together. She was like a sheriff, but a good one. She would have made a good mom. Zoot was mostly fun for me. Zoot didn’t like people very much but she and I played very, very rough. When both Belle and Zoot were alive, Belle would sometimes break up the play between Zoot and me. That actually annoyed me a lot.

You said your story would be sad, but if you read it another way, it’s kind of happy. You shared some memories of Luke and I shared some memories of Belle and Zoot. I think that’s a good thing.

    Love, Dakota
P.S. Thank you for the birthday email! It was very sweet of you.
