HI IT IS ME SORE
I AM A TINY DOG TO HAVE TINY BODY PARTS. THAT IS A PORTANT PART OF THIS STORY.
WHEN I POOPED TODAY THERE WAS BLOOD AND PUS.
TODAY WE GOED TO THE DOCTOR AGAIN. THE DOCTOR LOOKED AT MY BUTT. HE SAID IT NEEDS TO BE SQUEEZED BUT IT IS NOT THE SAME SIDE AS BEFORE. TWO LADIES HOLDED ME DOWN. MOMMY COULD NOT DO IT. THE DOCTOR PUTTED A MUZZLE ON ME TO NOT BE ABLE TO BREATHE. IT WAS TERRBLE. THEN DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT HE DID?? HE PUTTED HIS BIG FINGER IN MY TINY LITTLE BUTT. I SCREAMED
YELP! YOUCH! OW! SCREECH!
AND THEN IT WAS OVER. THE LADY PUTTED ME ON THE FLOOR AND TAKED OFF THE MUZZLE TO BE ABLE TO BREATHE AGAIN. THE DOCTOR SAID
SPARKY HAS A FECTED ABSCESS ON HIS BUTT TO NEED TO TAKE BIOTICS.
MOMMY SAID OK.
THEN HE SAID
NO MORE PEOPLES FOOD! IT IS BAD FOR SPARKY. GIVE TO HIM VERY SPENSIVE DOG FOOD.
MOMMY SAID OK I WILL GET SOME WHEN I GET PAID.
THE DOCTOR SAID GIVE TO SPARKY A SITZ BATH EVERYDAY FOR 10 MIN. MOMMY SAID I WILL TRY BUT HE DOES NOT LIKE TO SIT FOR 10 MIN. HE CAN DO 5.
I TAKED A BATH TO SIT IN COOL WATER WITH EPSOM SALT IN IT. I SITTED FOR 5 MIN THEN I COULD NOT SIT STILL ANY MORE. MOMMY GIVED TO ME CHICKEN MEAT TO EAT IN THE TUB.
THEN WE TAKED A LONG NAP TO BE ALL WORE OUT FROM A LONG AND NASTY DAY.
I AM JUST A TINY DOG TO NOT NEED SO MUCH HASSLE.

The doc recommended Purina Pro Plan or Iams Lamb and Rice. I’d really rather not drive 50 miles roundtrip to buy dogfood I can’t afford. Does anybody know of grocery store dogfood that is nutritious? I’m in a quandary here. I’ll buy it if I have to, I guess. Can you get Pro Plan at the grocery store? I can’t in my town, but maybe it’s at Safeway. That’s not very far away. Anybody have any great ideas? Thanks.

Can you make Sparky’s food? Then you don’t have to drive and you can control what goes into it. If the vet is concerned that Sparky is eating ingredients he shouldn’t be, you would have complete control. If he thinks Sparky needs it for a different reason, you can still control it.
Dogs naturally express their anal glands when they poop. A nice, solid poop naturally squeezes the sac and empties it. Sloppy poops don’t do it. And constipation is nobody’s friend. You want that sweet spot! So maybe you could make Sparky’s food and find it. Chicken, sweet potatoes, brown rice or oatmeal. There are recipes here and around. Since you are feeding a little dog, it would be cheap. And since Sparky doesn’t have cancer, you don’t have to worry about some ingredients the cancer dogs have to worry about (like carbs).
Post your question in the feeding forum! Get some ideas and recipes there. Make his food once a week (or less often and freeze) and see what he thinks.

Oucccccch! I’m so sorry Sparky. I hope you never have to go through that again.
Sparky’s Mom, I agree with Shari. You will find it super cheap to make your own food for Sparky. It’s not as scary as it sounds, many people do it and their dogs are so much healthier because of it. There is a book called “The Whole Pet Diet” that you can probably find used on Amazon for cheap, and there are terrific recipes. The web is also full of them.
As for supermarket commercial food, we found that Rachel Rae’s new line is good, as is Newman’s and Organix, if your Safeway carries it.

Sparky, fingers and butts DO NOT GO TOGETHER!! PERIOD! Holy smokes, I’m so sorry that happened to you! I agree with Jerry & Dakota Dawg: look up some recipes here and check them out with your vet. Hopefully he’ll approve some of them, and you can have some good wholesome home-cooked meals! Sorry about your butt 🙁
