DEAR DOGS
HI IT IS ME SPARKY TRIPAWD
THERE IS A PROBLEM. IT IS COLD. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A SWEATER TO BE WARM. MOMMY GIVED TO ME A SWEATER BEFORE WITH SLEEVES AND IT DID NOT FIT TO GET ALL TWISTED UP. DO YOU HAVE SWEATERS TO FIT WITH ONLY 3 LEGS? HOW DO YOU DO IT? PLEASE WRITE TO ME FAST SO I CAN BE WARM SOON.
I DO HAVE 2 JACKETS WITH NO SLEEVES BUT THEY DO NOT COVER MY CHEST AND BELLY. THEY JUST HAVE A STRAP AND SOMETIMES I PEE ON IT. DO YOU HAVE ANY GOOD IDEAS? DO YOU HAVE ANY PICTURES OF YOU IN CUTE SWEATERS?
THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME.
LOVE FROM SPARKY SNOWDOG
I could really use some help with this one. How do your front leg amputees wear sweaters and coats? Can you make recommendations? Thanks!
Becky, Sparky’s mom
Sparky, have you tried tucking the extra leg inside?
Love, Dakota
Charley is a front leg amp too. I buy him the sweaters that don’t have sleeves, but rather an opening for the front leg to go in. I sew closed the left front leg opening so it looks better.
Charley is a 68 pound lab and he has 4 sweaters that fit well…they do start to twist a bit around his body because he doesn’t have the other front leg to anchor it. I’ve found them at Petsmart, he needs a XL…they are maybe $20-25.
If need be I can send you a picture of Charley in one of his sweaters.
Hugs and chocolate labby kisses,
Ellen & Charley
Hey Sparky and Becky! You may want to do a search for sweaters in the forums. I know Cherry’s dad made her a sweater quite awhile back, and I think either his, or someone else’s sewing instructions were uploaded at that time. Cherry was also a front leg amp. I’d love to help, but I can barely sew a button back on a shirt! Good luck in your search!!
I posted, but maybe it’s awaiting moderation. I’ll keep checking and if not I’ll re-post.
Hugs and chocolate labby kisses,
Ellen & Charley
Charley is a front leg amp too. The sweaters that work the best are the kinds that have an opening in the sleeve (a slit) versus a sleeve. I stitch up the opening of the arm that he does not have so it looks better. The sweaters work great….they will rotate and will need adjusted since they only have one arm to keep it in place. I find Charley’s sweaters at PetSmart and they are usually about $20-$25. He’s 68 pounds and usually needs an XL. I can send you a picture if needed.

I’ve tried posting this 3x. 🙁
